Building Future Leaders
For Ages 13–17
The Kidco Leader in Training (LIT) Program is a FREE program for youth ages 13–17, designed to help young people build confidence, communication, teamwork, and leadership skills. Through structured training and hands-on experience, participants gain valuable skills and credentials to prepare them for future employment, leadership opportunities, and roles such as camp counsellors in recreational and community settings.
Program Overview
The Leader in Training Program is a three-month introduction to leadership and career readiness for youth ages 13–17.
Through three interactive sessions, participants will discover their strengths, build confidence, practise communication skills, and explore skills they can carry into school, work, and future opportunities.
Each month combines meaningful conversation, hands-on challenges, and personal reflection. Teens will have the opportunity to learn more about themselves, recognize the strengths they already bring to the table, and put their leadership skills into action.
Along the way, participants will build their LIT Career Toolkit with practical tools and takeaways they can continue to use as they prepare for their next steps.
What Participants Will Gain:

- Communicate with confidence — Build strong listening skills, speak up with confidence, and work well with others.

Course Outline
Discover & Lead Yourself
In the first course. teens will explore what leadership looks like in everyday life, discover their strengthens and values, and think about the kind of teammate and leader they want to become. Through conversation, challenges and self-reflection, they’ll begin to see that leadership isn’t about having a title — it’s about how you show up for others.

Become Future Ready
In the second course, teens will discover how school, sports, volunteering, hobbies and everyday responsibilities have already helped them build valuable real-world skills. They’ll learn what employers notice, begin exploring future possibilities and practise talking confidently about their own strengths and what they can bring to an opportunity.

Put Leadership into Action
In the last course, participants will bring everything together through a hands-on team challenge. They’ll share ideas, make decisions, solve problems, adapt when plans change and work together to turn an idea into action. The goal isn’t to create the “perfect” solution —it’s to experience what leadership, teamwork and problem-solving actually feel like.
