Emergent Curriculum: A Play-based Approach to Early Learning
At Kids & Company, we follow an emergent approach to curriculum—a child-centered, play-based way of learning that begins with careful observation of children’s interests, questions, and developmental cues. Rather than relying on rigid, pre-set lesson plans, our educators observe what each child is drawn to and create meaningful, individualized learning opportunities that build on those interests. This responsive approach supports deeper engagement and learning by meeting children where they are—academically, socially, and emotionally.
Daily Digital Reporting
You’ll receive daily reports on what your child eats, their nap times, curriculum activities, milestones and more. Delivering mid-day smiles as well as important insight into your child’s day.
Webcams
Password-protected web cameras are installed in each classroom and provide a real-time video feed of your child’s day.
Nutritious meals & snacks
Children enjoy a hot lunch and three snacks each day, prepared by our Kidco Kitchen — made from scratch with no additives, preservatives, or artificial flavours or colours.
Health & Safety
Every classroom follows rigorous health and safety protocols, tailored to meet local licensing and regional public health requirements. Your child’s well-being is always our top priority.
At our centre, you will find two stroller storage areas and the four spacious, bright rooms that greet you upon arrival. The tucked-away outdoor space offers sunshine and quiet play, while the separate entrance and welcoming staff make this centre feel warm and nurturing despite the busy location.

Meet the Director
Anita Baidya
My name is Anita Baidya and I am the Director at the Kids & Company’s Scotia Plaza centre. I am a recipient of a RECE Degree and an MBA. I began my career in child care over 28 years ago and started with Kids & Company in April 2012. After having my daughter, I knew that a career in child care was what I wanted to do. My wonderful family includes my husband Samor, and my daughter Satabdi. In my spare time, I love to travel and explore new places whenever possible. I love that our Scotia Plaza centre is in the heart of downtown and many parents work very close by and can even drop in for a visit during the day. Especially when parents are having a difficult day, a quick hug from their child makes things much better! Now that you know a bit more about me, I would love to meet you. I hope you come to visit our Scotia Plaza centre and see for yourself how Kids & Company can provide the right care and education for your child.
