Celebrating Earth Month with Young Readers

April 2026

Every April, people around the world come together to celebrate Earth Month, a time dedicated to raising awareness about the environment and inspiring positive action to protect our planet.

For parents and caregivers, Earth Month is a perfect time to spark conversations with your children about the world around them. Teaching young learners to care for the Earth from an early age helps them build lifelong habits of kindness, responsibility, and environmental stewardship. One of the simplest and most impactful ways to start these conversations is through books. Books can inspire curiosity, empathy, and a deeper appreciation for the planet we call home.

Today, Kids & Company is sharing a refreshed selection of children’s books that celebrate our planet and encourage eco-friendly habits. These stories are perfect for reading together during Earth Month, and all year long, to help young readers understand why every action matters when it comes to taking care of the Earth.

With cheerful illustrations and gentle, read-aloud text, it’s an engaging way to spark curiosity and early learning in young readers.

3. I Hear You, Forest by Kallie George

This beautifully illustrated story creates space for wonder, reflection, and connection, helping families tune into the natural world in a meaningful way.

4. Wonder Walkers by Micha Archer
