Where work and play come together
Kids & Company (“Kidco”) provides a nurturing and educational early learning environment for children to play, discover and grow. We offer proprietary curriculum such as Alpha-Mania (pre-reading), Mini Masters (art program introducing visionary artists), Munchkinetics (fitness and movement), Sign Language, Music, Science, structured and unstructured play and a whole lot of fun.
Volumes of research show that quality child care helps children become lifelong learners and supports the social needs of families.
Kids & Company also partners with many of Canada’s largest and most recognizable corporations to provide work-life balance solutions through guaranteed flexible child care and other dependent care programs and services. Kidco’s mission includes improving some of the challenges that working parents must balance, making Kids & Company a cornerstone for numerous employee wellness strategies. Visit our Corporate Services page to learn more about these programs.
Kids & Company was created by working parents for working parents. Proudly Canadian, Kids & Company was founded in 2002 by CEO Victoria Sopik, a life-long entrepreneur and mother of eight, and CFO Jennifer Nashmi, a corporate leader and mother of three. They have firsthand knowledge of the delicate balance between raising children and a successful career and have filled that need with reliable, flexible and nurturing child care.
Since 2002, Kids & Company has cared for a generation of Canadian children and is one of Canada’s leading child care and early learning providers. We currently have over 70 child care centres across Canada and the United States.
We are thrilled that you are considering Kids & Company for your family’s child care and learning needs. Our energy, passion, innovative programs and reliability make Kids & Company the ideal place for your child to learn and grow.
Welcome to Kids & Company!
President, CEO and Mother of 8
I am so pleased that you are considering becoming a part of the Kids & Company family. Every time a new child registers, I feel that I am personally entrusted with your child's care and for this I am very grateful.
I have eight children of my own! They now range from 18 - 29 years and although I love them dearly, I certainly miss them being babies. (They didn't talk back then!)
As an entrepreneur and mother, I know firsthand how challenging it is to balance work and family and I’ve found that finding the right child care is incredibly important. That’s why at Kids & Company we offer reliable, professional child care that is flexible enough to meet each family’s specific needs. We provide a safe, nurturing and enriched learning environment for your child. And we don't charge late fees!
We provide you with peace of mind, so you can feel good about going to work every day.
I have written this note to launch my weekly blog, packed with more valuable content for you. Not only will my blog provide you with a quick update as to exciting things that are happening in the Kids & Company world but also some stories from my personal, hectic life.
On a corporate note, we have recently opened a third location in the United States, our Geneva Illinois centre! We also have two new locations in Oakville, Ontario. One is at Cornwall Road and Trafalgar and the other one is at Trafalgar and Dundas. In addition, our new Milton, Barrie and Whitby locations are all accepting registrations. In early September, I am traveling to Alberta to open our new location in Okotoks. Also opening this fall is our third Surrey British Columbia location. We are doing our best to have child care available in a variety of locations for our busy working families!
On a more personal note, as a family, we have had a quiet summer after a busy Spring. Early May we had a family trip to Barbados. It was a very exciting week for all as our eldest daughter and her fiancé were married on May 3rd. McGill has a campus in Barbados, and she studied there in her final year. Not surprisingly, she met a terrific young man, so it seemed very fitting that six years later, we traveled there to celebrate with his family and friends.
Maclean is almost two and a half and his mother thought the summer might be the right time to start toilet training. She is working closely with his teachers at our Bloor location. He is very proud and quite successful!
Owen was born on Christmas Eve and he has spent the last eight months watching his brother! After a summer of work he is now able to successfully crawl after him! So cute and so much trouble! They are both adored by their ten aunts and uncles.
The end of summer is always a time for new beginnings. After thirty years of "being parents" we are now officially empty nesters! Our oldest son is turning thirty this September and our youngest son has headed off to Western to play football…and study business. A big family trip planned for Homecoming!
We are also planning a trip to Halifax for the graduation of child number six. He has loved Dalhousie! All of my children have loved being away at university but there seems to be a special love for Halifax from the students that make the trek east.
My oldest daughter finished law school and was just called to the bar. Eight years of hard work after her high school graduation, she is looking forward to starting her career. My younger daughter is a scientist and is working on her PHD at the University of Toronto. She was named after her mother, and I am very proud to see my name (actually her name), as the work she had done is being published.
Our seventh son is also heading off to university and rugby training camp. Just when we thought things might be a little quiet... my middle son proposed to his girlfriend on the beach in Barbados! We are planning a wedding for Spring 2016. Always busy with eight children!
