Emergent Curriculum: A Play-based Approach to Early Learning
At Kids & Company, we follow an emergent approach to curriculum—a child-centered, play-based way of learning that begins with careful observation of children’s interests, questions, and developmental cues. Rather than relying on rigid, pre-set lesson plans, our educators observe what each child is drawn to and create meaningful, individualized learning opportunities that build on those interests. This responsive approach supports deeper engagement and learning by meeting children where they are—academically, socially, and emotionally.
Daily Digital Reporting
You’ll receive daily reports on what your child eats, their nap times, curriculum activities, milestones and more. Delivering mid-day smiles as well as important insight into your child’s day.
Webcams
Password-protected web cameras are installed in each classroom and provide a real-time video feed of your child’s day.
Nutritious meals & snacks
Children enjoy a hot lunch and three snacks each day, prepared by our Kidco Kitchen — made from scratch with no additives, preservatives, or artificial flavours or colours.
Health & Safety
Every classroom follows rigorous health and safety protocols, tailored to meet local licensing and regional public health requirements. Your child’s well-being is always our top priority.
Our Millrise centre is bright, spacious, and full of energy, with colourful classrooms, large windows, and a dedicated indoor “Jungle Room” for active play. Outside, children enjoy a charming courtyard playground surrounded by trees. We’re also proudly adjacent to a senior living community, where our preschoolers participate in meaningful multigenerational visits that spark compassion, connection, and joy for both the children and the seniors.

Meet the Director
Kalpana Bashyal
My name is Kalpana Bashyal, and I am the Centre Director of Kids & Company Millrise. I have a Master’s in Education with a major in Health Education & Child Psychology from Tribhuvan University, Kathmandu, Nepal. I have been working in the child care field for over 15 years. I enjoy watching children see the world through their own lens and nurturing their development every day. Their abundant creativity, playfulness, and innocence motivate me to establish myself in this field. I love being a witness to children’s growth and development while setting up their foundation for lifelong learning, and I am proud to be a part of Kids & Company.
