Early Literacy

Our Early Literacy program, called Alpha-Mania in Canada, is a fun and engaging pre-reading program designed to excite children about the alphabet, while significantly improving their phonetic awareness. Children learn to overcome the literacy barrier in a fun and dynamic environment. Only a certified teacher with extensive experience in Early Childhood Education is given the responsibility of teaching this program.

During each class, they coach children to explore a new group of letters by sound, name and shape. The program is designed on the principles of multi-sensory learning and consists of four main styles of learning: – Visual (looking at the letter) – Auditory (listening to the letter sound) – Kinesthetic (skywriting the letter) – Tactile (printing the letter on a sensory tray like sandpaper).

The Early Literacy program is based on thorough research of phonics instruction and phonological awareness skills and includes crafts, music, stories, games and printing practice. Children learn to overcome the literacy barrier in a fun and dynamic environment. Parents are enthusiastic about the Alpha-Mania program because of its researched predictors of reading success: rhyming, blending, segmenting, recognizing sound-letter combinations and recognizing sounds within words.
