Our Friendly Frog centre is in the Hermitage area of northeast Edmonton, near the 50 St. NW exit off the Yellowhead Highway. We are in a small plaza across from a school in a quiet neighbourhood with little traffic.
Our location is proudly endorsed by Eco-Healthy Child Care®, a program that partners with child care professionals to eliminate environmental hazards in early learning settings with the goal of protecting the health of children and staff.
This location is one of the biggest childcare centres in Edmonton, with 7 classrooms that accommodate up to 143 children. We have programs for Infants, Toddlers, Preschoolers, Kindergarteners, and School Agers.
Children from 0 months to 5 years old can attend on a full-time or backup care basis, while School Age children (6-12 years old) can attend our Before and After School program and/or our summer camp program. For School Age children attending St. Maria Goretti, we walk them across the street each weekday before and after school.
Inside each classroom you’ll find plenty of bright colours and educational materials that support our emergent curriculum and learn-through-play philosophy. Outside is a spacious playground that provides children with many opportunities to explore the world around them.
Children are provided with a hot lunch and 3 snacks each day, catered by our Kidco Kitchen. The Kidco Kitchen is founded on a fresh-from-scratch philosophy and our food contains no additives, preservatives, artificial flavours or colours. Learn more here.
Subsidies are accepted in Alberta for families who qualify. Contact the Centre Director for more information.

My name is Roxanne Grinwis, and I am the Centre Director at Kids & Company Tender Heart. I have been working in child care for over 10 years and started working at Kids & Company in 2017. I am passionate about working in child care because I enjoy knowing that I can make a difference in the children’s world. I love watching them explore and see things in new and exciting ways. The best thing about working at Kids & Company is the opportunity for employees to implement their own fun ideas to enhance play and creativity.
Kids & Company’s Infant program welcomes newborns up to roughly 15 months. Infants learn about the world around them through their senses, so exploration is critical to their development. Nurturing educators support the children while they take in their surroundings, encouraging them to experience everything the classroom offers; be it creative art, exploring with blocks, listening to songs or engaging in story-time. Our infant program encourages children to follow their own established routines, while becoming comfortable and secure in a new group setting.
Kids & Company’s Toddler program is for children between the ages of roughly 15 months and 2.9 years. Toddlers are mobile and eager to explore their environment. As they strive for independence, our educators use an Emergent curriculum approach to learning that supports each child’s individuality. Some of the most important learning outcomes of our toddler program are language development, socialization, self-help skills, and the development of fine and gross motor skills.
Kids & Company’s Preschool program is designed for children between the ages of roughly 2.9 - 6 years. Our educators interact, observe and interpret the interests of our children to encourage discoveries. Our Preschool program provides a foundation for developing greater independence and problem-solving skills; the program integrates new concepts into our children’s world view, promotes sharing and mutual respect, and prepares them for Kindergarten.
Kids & Company’s School Age program accepts children from 5 - 12 years old (Grade 1 - 6) and is available at select locations. Programs include Before and After School Care, School Break Programming, and Summer Camp. Classroom space exists for smaller groups to gather, and activities are designed to meet the needs of varying developmental levels, touching on arts, science, math, drama, imaginative play, and physical fitness. Educators are also available to provide academic support for children that wish to do their homework during After School Care.
