Our Kids & Company Whitby centre has 5 classrooms, where we offer infant, toddler, preschool classes and school age programs. We offer before and after care for school age children, and we also offer transport to and from area schools. Our centre is brightly coloured and spacious with large windows that let the sunshine indoors. Our classrooms include a variety of learning areas that allow the children to explore, experiment, learn and grow. We compliment these with several play areas, including an outdoor play area that promotes imaginative open-ended play. Every day at Whitby is busy and fun. A typical day includes unique Kids & Company programs such as Alpha Mania (reading), Munchkinetics (movement), Music, French or Mini Masters, our art program. Our large playground and outdoor space is a year-round place for games, chalk art and interacting with nature, whether we are collecting leaves, watching the way the sun moves across the sky or splashing in rain puddles. Subsidies are accepted in Whitby. Contact the Centre Director for more information
My name is Abby Cadieux and I am the Director at the Kids & Company Whitby centre. I have been in the child care field for over 20 years and am a recipient of an Early Childhood Education degree. Parents sometimes ask when I knew I wanted to be a child care professional. When I was a small child I always set up my bedroom like a classroom. I had all of my dolls and stuffed animals set up in chairs, ready to learn. I guess it’s easy to see why I chose this career! Beyond the world of child care, I have two school age children – Brady and Brooke – who keep my husband and I busy with swimming, gymnastics and hockey. When I’m not at an arena or pool, I enjoy playing baseball and curling. I also enjoy being at the cottage relaxing. Now that you know a bit about me, I’d love to meet you! Please come take a tour and see everything Whitby has to offer.
At Kids & Company, we work with your family to ensure that the transition is a smooth one. Before your child’s first day, we’ll provide information on what to expect. We’ll create an integration schedule that is right for your child and every day that your child is in the classroom, you’ll receive a daily report that lets you know how your child’s day was. You’ll also be able to see him or her on our in classroom web cameras. The Centre Director will even send you an email before the end of the day if your child has a special “wow” moment that day.
Toddlers learn best in the context of relationships within small groups. There are fewer distractions and children’s activities are more focused. In Kids & Company toddler classrooms, our small groups allow very young children to make connections, form caring relationships, and learn to understand other children.
All two-year-olds examine everything they see, hear, feel and observe in an attempt to make sense of the world around them. In our preschool programs, Kids & Company teachers interact, observe and interpret the interests of preschool students to encourage further discoveries by planning activities and investigations that expand your child’s learning.
Kids & Company runs comprehensive kindergarten programs designed for children who are 4 or 5 years old (junior and senior kindergarten age) to prepare them for Grade 1. Using emergent curriculum techniques to adapt to the children’s’ interests and skills, we set a foundation of early literacy, numeracy, artistry, and the construction of relationships and ideas. Kindergarten programs are integrated into full-time child care to provide convenience and continuity.
Select Kids & Company locations offer school age programming for children ages 6-12 (Grades 1 – 6). Whether you have a younger child attending a Kids & Company location and you’d like the convenience of picking up your children in the same location or you’d like a program that’s run by trusted educators, Kids & Company school age programs may be right for your child.
