Happy New Year!

Its almost 2018! New Year’s is a great time to celebrate all of the fun things you’ve done, and remember all of the great things you’ve achieved over the past year! It's also a time to look forward to the year to come, try new things and have new accomplishments. Maybe your little ones will be starting child care, you have another baby on the way, or your kiddies are moving on to kindergarten! There is so much to celebrate and cherish with your friends and family and so many great ways to bring in the New Year!

A wonderful way to celebrate New Year’s Eve with the kids is to host a party in the day time so everyone can be included in the festivities. Have your family and friends over for brunch to count down the new year at 12 noon and celebrate with confetti wands, streamers and balloons. You can explain to your kids that people in different parts of the world are already in next year because of their time difference!

Have your kids think of a New Year’s resolution before the start of the New Year! This could be anything from trying a few new foods they don’t like to changing a bad habit. Encourage your little ones to think of new things they would like to learn, or different activities they would like to try! You can even suggest that they can start helping out in the kitchen a little bit or start helping choose groceries! Any little thing that helps your kids work towards a goal is a good thing!

There are often lots of fun activities to take part in on New Year’s Eve. Often cities and towns host fireworks which are always lots of fun to go see! If you don’t have anything going on in your neighbourhood or are looking for something fun to do on a budget, there are creative things you can do at home. Ever since my kids were little, we’ve held an annual New Years Eve treasure hunt in our backyard that the little ones get so excited and look forward to. It’s very simple, all you need to do is pick your treasure, wrap it up in a large zip lock bag and throw it in the snow. Make sure to not leave any foot prints behind and clearly mark on the map where the treasure is located. You don’t have to limit the fun to only one treasure!!!

2017 has been a great year and at Kids & Company we are ready and excited to kick start 2018! From our family to yours, we wish you a happy and healthy New Year!
