Where work and play come together
Kids & Company (“Kidco”) is a Canadian owned and operated company that provides a nurturing and educational early learning environment for children to play, discover and grow. We offer proprietary curriculum such as Alpha-Mania (pre-reading), Mini Masters (art program introducing visionary artists), Munchkinetics (fitness and movement), Sign Language, Music, Science, structured and unstructured play and a whole lot of fun.
Volumes of research show that quality child care helps children become lifelong learners and supports the social needs of families.
Kids & Company also partners with many of Canada’s largest and most recognizable corporations to provide work-life balance solutions through guaranteed flexible child care and other dependent care programs and services. Kidco’s mission includes improving some of the challenges that working parents must balance, making Kids & Company a cornerstone for numerous employee wellness strategies. Visit our Corporate Services page to learn more about these programs.
Kids & Company was created by working parents for working parents. Proudly Canadian, Kids & Company was founded in 2002 by CEO Victoria Sopik, a life-long entrepreneur and mother of eight, and CFO Jennifer Nashmi, a corporate leader and mother of three. They have firsthand knowledge of the delicate balance between raising children and a successful career and have filled that need with reliable, flexible and nurturing child care.
Since 2002, Kids & Company has cared for a generation of Canadian children and is one of Canada’s leading child care and early learning providers. We currently have over 70 child care centres across Canada and the United States.
We are thrilled that you are considering Kids & Company for your family’s child care and learning needs. Our energy, passion, innovative programs and reliability make Kids & Company the ideal place for your child to learn and grow.
Welcome to Kids & Company!
President, CEO and Mother of 8
I am so pleased that you are considering becoming a part of the Kids & Company family. Every time a new child registers, I feel that I am personally entrusted with your child's care and for this I am very grateful.
I have eight children of my own! They now range from 18 - 29 years and although I love them dearly, I certainly miss them being babies. (They didn't talk back then!)
As an entrepreneur and mother, I know firsthand how challenging it is to balance work and family and I’ve found that finding the right child care is incredibly important. That’s why at Kids & Company we offer reliable, professional child care that is flexible enough to meet each family’s specific needs. We provide a safe, nurturing and enriched learning environment for your child. And we don't charge late fees!
We provide you with peace of mind, so you can feel good about going to work every day.
I have written this note to launch my weekly blog, packed with more valuable content for you. Not only will my blog provide you with a quick update as to exciting things that are happening in the Kids & Company world but also some stories from my personal, hectic life.
On a corporate note, we have a few new locations opening in the months ahead. A new centre in downtown Toronto, one in Ottawa (Westboro), Mississauga Gateway Centre and also our long awaited Edmonton Arena District.
Earlier this year, I was in Illinois to open our fifth location in the United States, our North Clark Lincoln Park centre! We also recently opened our Geneva and Schaumburg centres there. Here at Kids & Company, we are doing our best to have child care available in a variety of geographic locations for our busy working families!
On a more personal note, we are still recovering from the busy time of my middle son's wedding! He was married at the end of May in a beautiful outdoor ceremony. After all the wedding craziness settled down, it was nice to have a quiet summer. My grandsons Maclean and Owen love playing by the lake and roasting s’mores at the campfire. It brings back so many memories of my own kids enjoying cottage life.
Our last baby just turned 19! We are now officially empty nesters! Last September, Fraser went off to Western University in Ontario to play football…and study business. Number seven child, Cole, is starting his second year at The Richard Ivey School of Business. He has just found out that he will have a term in New Zealand for his final semester. I had never heard of the University of Otago, and am looking forward to visiting him there next spring.
The oldest six are all happily focused on their future, moving away from student life (and financial help from their parents :)- a good trend for us!
My oldest daughter finished Articling and was called to the Bar a year ago. My younger daughter is a scientist and is working on her PHD at the University of Toronto. She was named after her mother, and I am very proud to see my name (actually her name), as the work she has done is being published.
As a woman that loves children, and most importantly babies, I am looking forward to our two new grandchildren that will be arriving in the new year. My eldest son and his wife are expecting boy number 3!! And my daughter and her husband are expecting their first baby, a girl!! Lots for us to look forward to, and I hope for your family as well.
