Great Food Ideas for Valentine’s Day!

Valentine’s Day is just a week away! It’s a great time for fun activities with your little ones. When my children were younger I used to have sweet Valentine’s Day cards ready for them on their way to school. Just a little something to remind them how special they are.

I saw this simple idea online. Take some fruits and vegetables and attach different notes to each one. For example: “You’re the apple of my eye” or “You are pear-fect”. You can be as creative or as simple as you’d like. I think this is a great treat to put into your child’s lunch on their way to school.

Want a fun and simple snack idea to make with your children on Valentine’s Day? Why not make a delicious Strawberry Banana Smoothie? Add a fun heart-shaped crazy straw and it’s the perfect breakfast for Valentine’s Day. This recipe comes right from the Kidco Kitchen!

Kidco Kitchen Strawberry Banana Smoothies

**Makes 6 child-sized portions

What you need:

¾ cup of Strawberries

2 Bananas

¾ cup of Creamy Vanilla Yogurt

¼ cup of Flax Meal

2 cups of 2% Milk

What to do:

1)   Peel the bananas and cut them into sections.

2)   Add the banana, strawberries, milk, yogurt and flax into a blender. Blend until smooth.

3)   Enjoy!

The best thing about strawberries is that if you cut them in half they look like little hearts. Cut a few strawberries and serve them on the side of your smoothies for that finishing touch!

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Cheers!
