Kidco Summer Bucket List 2024!

July is here, and it is officially summer! Summer is the perfect time to create lasting memories with your little ones, and what could be a better way to do so than with a fun summer bucket list. Spice up your summer by adding new activities into your routine, and even challenge yourself to complete them all! We have put together a collection of fun and engaging activities for families to enjoy together. Whether you're looking for outdoor adventures or creative indoor projects, we've got you covered with easy, sustainable ideas. Get ready to explore 20 activities to check off your bucket list in July and August before the leaves start to fall to bring joy, learning, and environmental awareness into your summer routine. 1. Read 50 Books 

Challenge yourself to read all kinds of books from different genres and learn something new. Check out “Books Highlighting Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Kindness”.

2. Run a Lemonade Stand

Running a lemonade stand for your community, or even just your family members is always a fun project! 

3. Play with Bubbles 

Have a blast with bubbles! It's simple, joyful fun that sparks laughter and imagination (and is great for snapping adorable photos of your little ones!)

4. Use Sidewalk Chalk

Unleash your child’s creativity with sidewalk chalk! Spend a sunny afternoon drawing colourful masterpieces on the pavement. Hopscotch, obstacle courses, or tic-tac-toe, this can bring the fun all summer long.

5. Watch the Sunset 

Cherish a magical moment together watching the sunset. This is a great time to take a pause and enjoy your surroundings, and lucky for us… it happens every day!

6. Puddle Jumping 

A rainy day does not need to squander summer fun. Next time it rains, throw on your rain boots, grab an umbrella, and spend the afternoon having a largest slash competition!

7. Plant in a Garden

8. Nature Walk

Explore the great outdoors with a nature walk! Discover new trails, observe wildlife, and collect leaves or rocks together to connect with your surroundings, and maybe even learn something new.

9. Water Table Treasure Hunt 

Using interesting objects that will sink in the water table, ask your little one to go on a treasure hunt to recover them. 10. Roast Marshmallows

Nothing says summer like roasting marshmallows over a campfire!

11. Make a Bird Feeder 

Using recycled materials, bird feeders are a fun activity that gives back all summer long. Design, fill, and hang empty milk cartons, containers, or even pine cones from the ground with birdseed like sunflower, peanuts, and flax. Enjoy watching different kinds of birds visit your yard and teach your child about local wildlife and the importance of recycling!

12. Go Strawberry Picking 

Strawberry season is short but sweet! Head out to our local strawberry patch, pick away, and spend a lovely day outdoors. Visiting local farms is a great way to show the wonders of nature to your children.

13. Bake Together 

Whether it's a rainy day, a cozy night in, or an upcoming birthday, baking never disappoints! Use your little helper as a baker’s assistant, and see what delicious things you can create together.

14. Visit a Community Park

You might be surprised at the wonderful green spaces around your neighbourhood. Enjoy playgrounds, picnic areas, and nature trails. It's a perfect opportunity for outdoor play, relaxation, and summer fun.

15. Go Swimming 

Lake, pool or ocean, swimming is the perfect way to cool off from the summer heat. Encourage confidence and water safety in a fun and supportive environment for your little ones. 

16. A Random Act of Kindness 

Small gestures of any sort can be the thing to brighten someone's day and inspire a ripple of kindness. Perform a random act of kindness in a variety of ways, whether it’s sharing a smile, offering a helping hand, or spreading positivity in new and exciting ways. 17. PJ Movie Day

18. Bubble Art 

Bubble art is a simple setup with beautiful visuals for your child. Pour bubbles into a few cups and add several drops of different coloured food colouring. 19. Go to the Zoo

Embark on an exciting zoo expedition! Visit your local zoo for an unforgettable day of animal encounters. Explore habitats, learn about conservation, and enjoy an excursion within your own city.

20. Save Water!

Encourage your little ones to save water this summer! Keep a pitcher of water in the fridge instead of running tap water when you need a cold drink, use refillable water bottles, and collect rainwater to water your plants!
