This centre is located in the Sapperton Brewery District of New Westminster, across from the Royal Columbian Hospital. We are on the ground floor of the Translink building near the main intersection of Brunette Ave. and E Columbia St. You’ll find the transit stops nearby and on-site parking make drop-off and pick-up an effortless experience.
Our location is proudly endorsed by Eco-Healthy Child Care®, a program that partners with child care professionals to eliminate environmental hazards in early learning settings with the goal of protecting the health of children and staff.
We have 5 classrooms that can accommodate 64 children in our Infant, Toddler and Preschool programs. These programs are available with the option of full-time or backup care.
At Kids & Company, we use an emergent curriculum and learn-through-play philosophy. This means classrooms are equipped with educational toys and Early Childhood Educators are there to readily guide children as their interests emerge.
Classrooms are also equipped with password-protected webcams that parents can access throughout the day. Inside the centre are rooms with bright windows, and outside is a spacious fenced-in play area that overlooks Brunette Ave.
Children are provided with a hot lunch and 3 snacks each day, catered by our on-site kitchen. The Kidco Kitchen is founded on a fresh-from-scratch philosophy and our food contains no additives, preservatives, artificial flavours or colours. Learn more here.

Meet the Director
My name is Linda Shimizu and I am the Centre Director at Kids & Company New Westminster. I am a recipient of an Early Childhood Education, an Infant/Toddler and Special Needs diplomas. I have been at Kids & Company since 2014. Since I was young, I have been passionate about working with children and now have 18 years of experience in the child care field. My favourite thing about our centre is the amazing team of educators. We work together to ensure we provide the best care and support for our centre families.
Kids & Company’s Infant program welcomes newborns up to roughly 15 months. Infants learn about the world around them through their senses, so exploration is critical to their development. Nurturing educators support the children while they take in their surroundings, encouraging them to experience everything the classroom offers; be it creative art, exploring with blocks, listening to songs or engaging in story-time. Our infant program encourages children to follow their own established routines, while becoming comfortable and secure in a new group setting.
Kids & Company’s Toddler program is for children between the ages of roughly 15 months and 2.9 years. Toddlers are mobile and eager to explore their environment. As they strive for independence, our educators use an Emergent curriculum approach to learning that supports each child’s individuality. Some of the most important learning outcomes of our toddler program are language development, socialization, self-help skills, and the development of fine and gross motor skills.
Kids & Company’s Preschool program is designed for children between the ages of roughly 2.9 - 6 years. Our educators interact, observe and interpret the interests of our children to encourage discoveries. Our Preschool program provides a foundation for developing greater independence and problem-solving skills; the program integrates new concepts into our children’s world view, promotes sharing and mutual respect, and prepares them for Kindergarten.
