Our Kids & Company New Westminster centre is located near the Royal Columbian Hospital and Sapperton Skytrain Station. We are situated on the bottom floor of the Translink building, near Columbia and Nelson’s Court. We have 5 classrooms and can accommodate up to 64 children ranging from newborn to 5 years. Our centre is filled with large, bright classrooms and the smiling faces of our ever-so busy teachers and children! When you walk through our doors you immediately forget you are on the first floor of a corporate office building and instead find yourself in a warm and nurturing environment.
We have designated drop off and pickup parking spots on the side on the building across to our playground.
Meet The Director
My name is Linda Shimizu and I am the Director at the Kids & Company New Westminster centre. I am a recipient of an Early Childhood Education, Infant/Toddler and Special Needs diploma and have been at Kids & Company since 2014. Since I was young, I have been passionate about working with children and now have 18 years of experience in the child care field. To tell you a bit more about myself, I have a wonderful husband and baby who is 16 months now. I love spending time with my family and friends. I am also a huge sports fan and love my Vancouver Canucks, Seattle Seahawks and BC Lions! Now that you know a bit more about me, I would love to meet you! I hope you come to visit our New Westminster centre and see for yourself how Kids & Company can provide the right care and education for your child.
At Kids & Company, we work with your family to ensure that the transition is a smooth one. Before your child’s first day, we’ll provide information on what to expect. We’ll create an integration schedule that is right for your child and every day that your child is in the classroom, you’ll receive a daily report that lets you know how your child’s day was. You’ll also be able to see him or her on our in classroom web cameras. The Centre Director will even send you an email before the end of the day if your child has a special “wow” moment that day.
Toddlers learn best in the context of relationships within small groups. There are fewer distractions and children’s activities are more focused. In Kids & Company toddler classrooms, our small groups allow very young children to make connections, form caring relationships, and learn to understand other children.
All two-year-olds examine everything they see, hear, feel and observe in an attempt to make sense of the world around them. In our preschool programs, Kids & Company teachers interact, observe and interpret the interests of preschool students to encourage further discoveries by planning activities and investigations that expand your child’s learning.
Kids & Company runs comprehensive kindergarten programs designed for children who are 4 or 5 years old (junior and senior kindergarten age) to prepare them for Grade 1. Using emergent curriculum techniques to adapt to the children’s’ interests and skills, we set a foundation of early literacy, numeracy, artistry, and the construction of relationships and ideas. Kindergarten programs are integrated into full-time child care to provide convenience and continuity.
For the time being, our in-centre birthday party and other live events will temporarily not be available. If you require any information on future bookings or have any questions, please reach out to Christie firstname.lastname@example.org
How can you make children’s birthday parties a piece of cake? Just invite Kids & Company! Most Kids & Company child care centres are now available for kids birthday parties on Saturdays and Sundays. All you need to do is bring the children – we’ll do everything else!
