Our Kids & Company Dartmouth centre is located on the ground floor of an office building on Portland Hills Drive in a centrally located area. Although it is a busy area, we are located off of the main road, far away from busy cars and city commotion. We are also very close to Cole Harbour Place, our community recreational facility and Cole Harbour Heritage Farm. It’s a charity-run community farm that our little ones love to visit! Our centre has 8 classrooms and can accommodate up to 136 children, ranging from infants to age 5. We have a wonderful group of teachers who work together to create a safe, loving and nurturing environment for our children.
There are parent pick up and drop off spots outside the centre. *Note* If parents are taking the Metro Link to work, they are unable to leave their vehicle on site, without permission.
Meet the Director
My name is Bethany Hogan and I am the Director at the Kids & Company Dartmouth centre. I have an Early Childhood Education degree and am trained in teaching special needs children. I started working at Kids & Company in 2013 and have over 15 years of experience in the child care field. I have also worked with the Boys and Girls Clubs of East Dartmouth for 6 years in the summer, and 4 years in after school care. I truly love watching the children learn and grow! I love working at Kids & Company because we offer flexible care and are able to adjust our schedule to meet the needs of our families. I also have an amazing team by my side! They each bring a variety of skills, experience and teaching strategies. When combined together, we are able to offer wonderful learning opportunities and creative activities for our students.
At Kids & Company, we work with your family to ensure that the transition is a smooth one. Before your child’s first day, we’ll provide information on what to expect. We’ll create an integration schedule that is right for your child and every day that your child is in the classroom, you’ll receive a daily report that lets you know how your child’s day was. You’ll also be able to see him or her on our in classroom web cameras. The Centre Director will even send you an email before the end of the day if your child has a special “wow” moment that day.
All two-year-olds examine everything they see, hear, feel and observe in an attempt to make sense of the world around them. In our preschool programs, Kids & Company teachers interact, observe and interpret the interests of preschool students to encourage further discoveries by planning activities and investigations that expand your child’s learning.
Kids & Company runs comprehensive kindergarten programs designed for children who are 4 or 5 years old (junior and senior kindergarten age) to prepare them for Grade 1. Using emergent curriculum techniques to adapt to the children’s’ interests and skills, we set a foundation of early literacy, numeracy, artistry, and the construction of relationships and ideas. Kindergarten programs are integrated into full-time child care to provide convenience and continuity.
