Our Kids & Company Larry Uteck centre is one of the smaller Kids & Company locations across Canada – and we couldn’t be happier! Although some of the other Kids & Company centres are triple our size, Larry Uteck has a huge heart and offers a cozy, intimate and nurturing environment. We have 4 classrooms and can accommodate up to 76 children ranging from infants to preschoolers. Whether our children are participating in our Alpha-Mania (pre-literacy), Mini-Masters (art) or Munchkinetics (movement) programs, enjoying nutritious and delicious meals from our Kidco Kitchen chefs, or getting active outside, our centre is always filled with busy and smiling faces from both our children and teachers!
Hello, my name is Sara Massey and I am the Centre Director of Kids & Company Larry Uteck. I graduated with a Diploma in Special Needs, Early Childhood Education, and am currently working towards a Child and Youth degree. I began working for Kids & Company in 2012 and have been in the child care field for over 12 years.
From a very early age, I knew I wanted to work with children, it always felt natural to me. My grandmother ran an in-home daycare and I would spend my school breaks helping her instead of doing the things kids usually do on school vacations!
In the summer months, I enjoy camping with my family and visiting patios with friends while we enjoy delicious foods and live music! During the winter months, I spend a lot of time crafting with my Cricut machine.
My favourite thing about the Larry Uteck centre is that our small team has become more like family members than co-workers. The team is always there to support one another — whether it be advice for the classroom or to help a co-worker out when they need a ride. Each person brings something unique and special to the centre which allows us to provide the best quality care for the families we serve.
My favourite thing about working for Kids & Company is the flexibility offered to families to help ease some of the challenges of raising a family in a busy world! I love being part of a wonderful, passionate team of educators.
At Larry Uteck, we focus on creating a welcoming, educational and fun environment for the children. We are family-oriented and will always go the extra mile for our families. Our centre is unique because we are small, which allows us to build strong, personal relationships with our families and amongst our team!
Now that you know a bit more about me, I would love to meet you! I hope you come to visit our Larry Uteck centre and see for yourself how Kids & Company can provide the right care and education for your child!
At Kids & Company, we work with your family to ensure that the transition is a smooth one. Before your child’s first day, we’ll provide information on what to expect. We’ll create an integration schedule that is right for your child and every day that your child is in the classroom, you’ll receive a daily report that lets you know how your child’s day was. You’ll also be able to see him or her on our in classroom web cameras. The Centre Director will even send you an email before the end of the day if your child has a special “wow” moment that day.
Toddlers learn best in the context of relationships within small groups. There are fewer distractions and children’s activities are more focused. In Kids & Company toddler classrooms, our small groups allow very young children to make connections, form caring relationships, and learn to understand other children.
All two-year-olds examine everything they see, hear, feel and observe in an attempt to make sense of the world around them. In our preschool programs, Kids & Company teachers interact, observe and interpret the interests of preschool students to encourage further discoveries by planning activities and investigations that expand your child’s learning.
Kids & Company runs comprehensive kindergarten programs designed for children who are 4 or 5 years old (junior and senior kindergarten age) to prepare them for Grade 1. Using emergent curriculum techniques to adapt to the children’s’ interests and skills, we set a foundation of early literacy, numeracy, artistry, and the construction of relationships and ideas. Kindergarten programs are integrated into full-time child care to provide convenience and continuity.
