Our Kids & Company Bow Trail centre is located in a charming building that was once a fabric manufacturing centre. We have huge windows and tall, lofty ceilings along with a large parking lot for easy pick-up and drop-off. Our centre is always filled with natural light and has a fresh, open-concept feel which creates an active and fun learning environment for our children. Our neighborhood is surrounded by beautiful parks and is conveniently located at the corner of Bow Trail and 40th St. SW, just on the outskirts of the downtown core, en route for many of our parents’ commutes to work.
We know children who sing, dance and explore music regularly perform better in academic settings and tend to have higher self-esteem and social skills. That’s why we believe in introducing it at an early age and run a daily music program that involves interactive songs, rhythmic expression, games and movement. At this centre, we are also affiliated with Together with Heather Music. Heather and her musicians join us each week – on rotating days so our part-time children see them – bringing along age-appropriate tools like shakers, rattles, ukuleles and more. With a background in musical therapy and a successful career in creating children’s albums, this partner complements our music program perfectly. https://rattleandstrum.com/together-with-heather-music
Although we have a wonderful building and location, it is the people inside that really make Bow Trail a special place. We are a tight-knit team that takes both pleasure and pride in seeing all of our children grow and develop as they transition through our programs. We also consider it vital that our families are with us every step of the way through constant communication and interaction.
Did you know we have camp programs for school age kids? Sign up for a day, a few days, a week or the entire summer and let them explore their communities, stretch their minds and build lasting friendships! Find out more here
There is a parking lot out front of the building for families to use for drop off and pick up. There is also street parking if required.
Meet the Director
My name is Michelle Eaton and I am the Director at the Kids & Company Bow Trail centre. I have been working at Kids & Company since November of 2006, and am a recipient of a Level 3 Early Childhood Education diploma and a teaching diploma from The Nova Scotia Teacher’s College. To tell you a bit more about myself, I have a beautiful daughter named Charlie who started with Kids & Company when she was 11 months. Over the years she has made several great friends and has grown leaps and bounds past my expectations. In my spare time, I enjoy being in the kitchen and cooking up tasty meals for my family, camping, fishing, boating and watching my favourite sports team, the New York Jets! I have yet to see them play live but that is at the top of my list! What I love most about our Kids & Company Bow Trail centre are the amazing teachers and students. They have become like a second family to me and we are always smiling and having fun each and every day! Now that you know a bit more about me, I would love to meet you! I hope you come visit our Bow Trail centre and see for yourself how Kids & Company can provide the right care and education for your child.
At Kids & Company, we work with your family to ensure that the transition is a smooth one. Before your child’s first day, we’ll provide information on what to expect. We’ll create an integration schedule that is right for your child and every day that your child is in the classroom, you’ll receive a daily report that lets you know how your child’s day was. You’ll also be able to see him or her on our in classroom web cameras. The Centre Director will even send you an email before the end of the day if your child has a special “wow” moment that day.
Toddlers learn best in the context of relationships within small groups. There are fewer distractions and children’s activities are more focused. In Kids & Company toddler classrooms, our small groups allow very young children to make connections, form caring relationships, and learn to understand other children.
All two-year-olds examine everything they see, hear, feel and observe in an attempt to make sense of the world around them. In our preschool programs, Kids & Company teachers interact, observe and interpret the interests of preschool students to encourage further discoveries by planning activities and investigations that expand your child’s learning.
Kids & Company runs comprehensive kindergarten programs designed for children who are 4 or 5 years old (junior and senior kindergarten age) to prepare them for Grade 1. Using emergent curriculum techniques to adapt to the children’s’ interests and skills, we set a foundation of early literacy, numeracy, artistry, and the construction of relationships and ideas. Kindergarten programs are integrated into full-time child care to provide convenience and continuity.
Select Kids & Company locations offer school age programming for children ages 6-12 (Grades 1 – 6). Whether you have a younger child attending a Kids & Company location and you’d like the convenience of picking up your children in the same location or you’d like a program that’s run by trusted educators, Kids & Company school age programs may be right for your child.
