Do you live or work in the Queen West area? Are you exploring early education and child care options? Our highly-anticipated Queen West facility opened in early 2019 and accepts infants, toddlers, preschoolers and school-age children in flexible programs and schedules. It is also home to our STREAM preschool program (science, technology, reading, engineering, arts, math) which features an emphasis on STEM areas and a Montessori approach to learning for children (click here to find out more about STREAM). The centre has capacity for 137 children in nine bright and beautiful classrooms with stunning views out to the city skyline, and a spacious gross motor room for indoor play and our Munchkinetics program.
Kidco Work is available here! A small section of the centre has designated co-working spaces exclusive to Kids & Company families (contact firstname.lastname@example.org or click here for more information on co-working). .
Here’s why you should consider Kids & Company:
At Kids & Company, we use an emergent curriculum and learn through play philosophy. We’re very proud of our proprietary programs! They include Alpha-Mania (pre-literacy and early reading), Mini Masters (art), and Munchkinetics (movement) and are designed to engage our children in a learning process that encourages self-expression, creativity, coordination and most importantly, fun! We often hear children singing the Alpha-Mania theme song before the teacher even begins the lessons, a clear indication of their enthusiasm about learning through play. You’ll find sign language in our baby and toddler rooms, and all our children participate in music, French, science & exploration and creative play throughout our day.
Parking is available right under the building and there will be designated Kidco Parking as well as street parking nearby.
Meet the Director
My name is Pam Janes and I am the Director at the Kids & Company Queen West centre as well as one of our Toronto Area Directors. I am a recipient of an Early Childhood Education diploma from George Brown College and have over 16 years of child care experience. Outside the world of child care, I love spending time up north with my family which includes six nephews between the ages of 4-14 and my adorable dog! I also enjoy watching movies, reading and travelling. Now that you know a bit more about me, I would love to meet you! I hope you come visit our Queen West centre and see for yourself how Kids & Company can provide the right care and education for your child!
Kids & Company’s Infant program welcomes newborns up to roughly 18 months. Infants learn about the world around them through their senses, so exploration is critical to their development. Nurturing educators support the children while they take in their surroundings, encouraging them to experience everything the classroom offers; be it creative art, exploring with blocks, listening to songs or engaging in story-time. Our infant program encourages children to follow their own established routines, while becoming comfortable and secure in a new group setting.
Kids & Company’s Toddler program is for children between the ages of roughly 18 months and 2.5 years. Toddlers are mobile and eager to explore their environment. As they strive for independence, our educators use an Emergent curriculum approach to learning that supports each child’s individuality. Some of the most important learning outcomes of our toddler program are language development, socialization, self-help skills, and the development of fine and gross motor skills.
Kids & Company’s Preschool program is designed for children between the ages of roughly 2.5 - 5 years. Our educators interact, observe and interpret the interests of our children to encourage discoveries. Our Preschool program provides a foundation for developing greater independence and problem-solving skills; the program integrates new concepts into our children’s world view, promotes sharing and mutual respect, and prepares them for Kindergarten.
Kids & Company’s School Age program accepts children from 5 - 12 years old (Grade 1 - 6) and is available at select locations. Programs include Before and After School Care, School Break Programming, and Summer Camp. Classroom space exists for smaller groups to gather, and activities are designed to meet the needs of varying developmental levels, touching on arts, science, math, drama, imaginative play, and physical fitness. Educators are also available to provide academic support for children that wish to do their homework during After School Care.
